Deon Gatson serves as the Executive Director of Baldwin Youth Services and is the founder of Compass II Life Services, which he established in 2016 after recognizing a significant need for accessible and effective mental health services for youth throughout the Gulf Coast.
With more than a decade of experience, Deon has worked across a variety of settings, including juvenile court services, community mental health, nonprofit operations, and private practice. His extensive professional background has provided him with a unique understanding of the challenges facing youth and families and the importance of creating comprehensive, accessible, and individualized services to support their success.
Deon earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from the University of Mobile. He is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and is committed to helping individuals and families develop the skills, support systems, and resources necessary to create lasting positive change.
In addition to his professional work in behavioral health and youth services, Deon is a graduate of the Alabama Military Academy and serves as an Officer in the Alabama Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer. As a combat veteran, he brings a strong foundation of leadership, discipline, service, and commitment to everything he does. He remains actively involved with the National Guard Officers Association of Alabama.
Deon is passionate about strengthening communities and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to overcome challenges, develop resilience, and build successful futures. Through his leadership at Baldwin Youth Services, he continues to work toward addressing the needs of youth and families while expanding access to quality services throughout the community.
